We spent the night on the Imagination last night and wow…what a cool bed!! Sleep number mattress topped with memory foam…we slept like babies! We only have a queen size bed at home and a full size on the houseboat so it was really a treat!
I thought Mike was going to faint when he heard the engines roar to life. Spectacular! We took a nice ride and he checked everything out. No oil or fuel leaks, no water anywhere it’s not supposed to be. Generator runs everything, including all three marine A/C units! Purasan system is also a big plus!
After cruising for awhile, Mike and I excused ourselves and went inside the boat to discuss. We love the boat!! He said “what do you think?” and I said “let’s buy it!”…and I cried (of course)! SO, we handed over the $$, shook hands, and we now own this beauty!
We motored back to the marina with huge smiles all around and filled our two 250 gallon tanks with fuel already discussing our Sunday morning departure. After we were all fueled up Mike started the engines…except he didn’t. Nothing happened when he turned the keys! The generator also wouldn’t start. Panic began to creep up on me! Mind you…when we gave the owner the money (cash no less) he said, “Now you understand, this is an as is sale!” Thankfully it was just the batteries and the guy was gracious enough to go buy all new batteries and a new charger! Whew!
So now tomorrow will be spent cleaning the outside some more, installing the new batteries and charger, and provisioning and then we can be on our way home! Did I mention we can’t trailer this boat? Tomorrow begins our week-long adventure down the Arkansas River, up the Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, and Cumberland Rivers to get this baby home. I called and got Boat US insurance just in case!
Mike also told the guy who turned us on to the boat in the first place that if he would help us get it cleaned up we would give him the old cargo van we drove to Little Rock and he agreed. So we’ll have some help scraping off the filth. I have a feeling tomorrow is gonna be a loooong day!
Our excitement level is through the roof! Keeping our fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly and we all make it home in one piece!
